Just a thought

Caregivers WorldThere are innumerable frustrations, disillusionments, dashed hopes, lost opportunities, long term suffering, regrets and sometimes utterly total exhaustion suffered by those who are ill or who are doing the endless work of care giving.

A friend of mine has been in a care giving role for many ears to her grand-daughter who suffers from M.S. This lovely woman is the soul of kindness and compassion and she has worked tirelessly to care for and support this young girl. Along the way my friend Celia, has experienced all the feelings and emotions, as well as, the exhaustion that all care givers feel. This combined with the worry over what will happen to her grand-daughter once she is gone is ever present in her mind.

One day we were having a chat and discussing her predicament and I remarked on how well she seems to handle everything. She is always cheerful and out going, pleasant to be around and a joy to know. She said, "I'll tell you but you will laugh". "Okay", says I, "let me in on the joke". With that, she proceeded to describe her recipe for dealing with life on a daily basis.

"It's my "God Box" that helps me to cope. Whenever I become worried, frustrated, exhausted, or dwell too much on what the future may hold, I write myself a note and put it into my God Box. It's just a little box I keep in the house and all my worries and concerns go in there. Then, I just let God deal with everything and I go about my life. About once a week I will check it out and see what has been resolved and sure enough each of my problems are dealt with…not by me, by God. He takes care of all my problems and difficulties and that is how I cope with life."

Needless to say, I didn't laugh. Here is a woman who has complete trust in our living and merciful God and she has never been disappointed. Any household box will server very nicely as a God Box.

Just a thought…why not give it a try when you are feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, suffering or exhausted.

God Bless
